Jane Marchant, Physical Therapist

(licensed in Switzerland and Costa Rica)

Physical Therapy : a session may combine sports or therapeutic massage, Myofascial release, Manual Medicine therapy, Yoga therapy, Ultra-sound therapy, cold packs, taping, orthopedic exercises, Spine Education Class and fitness program.

For sore or injured muscles and joints, acute or chronic lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, sprains, tendonitis, arthritis, post surgery recovery, etc...Every session is tailored to your specific needs and wishes. I emphasize a “hands-on” approach with a commitment to patient education and injury prevention.

Therapeutic Massage : Therapeutic massage brings about positive changes and balance to the mind, body and emotions. It reduces tension, relaxes the body, relieves pain, stimulates blood, lymph and energy circulation, improves flexibility, body awareness and even self-esteem, and promotes a positive attitude, enhancing the healing process from within.
It is also a pleasurable moment to enjoy, making you feel relaxed and nurtured. Touch is applied with focus, knowledge and caring. With all these benefits, bodywork cannot be regarded as a luxury, but is a precious tool in prevention and healing.
I may combine the following techniques to better address your needs and wishes :

Swedish Massage : a gentle, relaxing massage that enhances circulation, relieves tension and soothes tired muscles. Swedish massage therapy is also known to improve muscle tone.
Deep Tissue Massage is designed specifically for areas of tension and pain in the muscular system.
Prenatal and Postnatal Massage are designed specifically for mothers-to-be or new mothers.
Sports Massage is the science and art of applying massage techniques to ensure the health and well being of the athlete in you.
Yogassage is done on a mat on the floor. The practitioner assists the client in a series of passive yoga stretches, applying pressure on the muscles to help them release and along the energy meridians. Pressure on the body helps reduce the body’s level of stress hormones and stimulates certain sensory receptors, giving you more and better sensations on how your body moves and feels. This method benefits all people, old or young, flexible or not so flexible. It is also extremely therapeutic, as it rebalances the different muscle groups and brings the body back into postural alignment. Deep breathing exercises help the client to connect the body to the mind. Yogassage leaves you totally relaxed, your muscles stretched out and released. Wear loose fitting clothing for Yogassage.
