Abhyanga-Garshana (Gentle Exfoliation and Soothing Herbal Oil Massage) : Begins with a dry, silk glove lymphatic massage, which gently exfoliates, followed by a warm herbal oil massage. Garshana increases circulation and flushes the lymphatic system. The brushing also prepares the skin, so that, the oil can penetrate more deeply. Abhyanga nourishes the skin, tissues, organs and joints. Abhyanga, being smooth and flowing, helps to pacify vata by profoundly relaxing the nervous system and the mind. The session is completed with a hot towel compress.
Vishesh (Vigorous Herbal Oil Massage) : A firmer, rhythmic massage. This treatment enhances the ability of nutrients to reach depleted cells and removes stagnant waste by breaking up adhesions, stimulating lymphatic flow and guiding impurities out of the body. Vishesh opens blocked channels bringing awareness and the body’s healing fluids into deeply seated tissues. The session is completed with a hot towel compress.
Udvartina(Exfoliating Herbal Paste Massage) : A deeply penetrating and cleansing massage using an exfoliating herbal paste that detoxifies and nourishes the body, conditions the skin, and stimulates circulation. Udvartina effectively presses stagnant lymphatic toxins out of the body, leaving both body and mind fresh and alert. The repeated movements over hair follicles and skin tissue promotes the breakdown of fatty deposits and loosens up excess kapha dosha. Udvartina is an ayurvedic reduction massage and it improves muscle tone. Very uplifting.
Ayurvedic Facial & Body Treatment (Skin Care) : A ritual journey combining ayurvedic massage, an herbal clay body mask, garshana and a series of rejuvenating herb and mineral masks to awaken your inner beauty. Nourishes skin cells for firmer, softer skin, helps relax tense or tired facial muscles and acts as a foundation to help protect the skin from adverse effects of weather, pollution and cosmetics.
Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya (SAN) (Ayurvedic Sinus Treatment) : Begins with an upper body massage followed by aromatic steam and medicinal herbal nose drops. The sinus treatment is followed by an abhyanga massage and a hot towel compress. This treatment works directly to clear sinus congestion and headaches, eye and ear blockages and it opens the senses. A great treatment for those who are sensitive to pollutants, sensory stimulation and for those who experience chronic head and neck problems.
Marma Chikitsa(Ayurvedic Energy Balancing) : A powerful, ancient Ayurvedic energy balancing to soothe and align the physical and etheric bodies. Marma is a Sanskrit word meaning hidden, or secret. These secret spots are major vortexes of Prana. They are the physical manifestations of the nadi chakra system. By removing blockages from these points, vital energy is restored giving physical and psychological relaxation and strength. Though this is an energy focused session, the body is luxuriously bathed in dosha balancing oils and hot towel compresses.
Basti (Heart, Low Back and Navel Treatment) : After the body is anointed with dosha balancing oils, basti, a dam made out of dough and filled with medicated oil, is moved from the low back to the navel and finally to the heart. This treatment considerably increases the circulation in each region, as the herbal oil gets deeply absorbed into the skin it both nourishes and strengthens the muscles and nerves, as well as, the emotional body. Then, ghee eye drops are administered to strengthen the eyes and lemon, salt and castor oil are used on the feet to remove systemic toxins. Finally, warm herbal oil is poured in a gentle stream onto the forehead as a final touch to this deep relaxation.
Pindhi (Herbal Compress Massage) : The whole body is made to therapeutically perspire by the external application of medicinal herbal rice boluses, or poultices, soaked in warm milk and aromatic spices and then rhythmically pressed downward onto the body in a circular motion. Once the five positions of the body are treated, the excess herbal mixture is removed. Then, warm oil is applied before showering. This treatment provides direct nourishment to the soft tissue near the skin. This is excellent for arthritis, neuro-muscular disorders and for general rejuvenation of the body.
Shila Abhyanga(Ayurvedic Hot Stone Massage) : Stone massage is an ancient, enduring form of therapeutic bodywork, using hot and cool stones and crystals. Hot stones soothe and release sore muscles and can be used as tools to work more deeply. Cooled stones reduce inflammation and refine the pores. Alternating hot and cold stones stimulates the circulatory system. The weighted warmth of the stones creates compression, which imparts deep relaxation and grounding. Dosha specific ayurvedic oils are used to create balance.
Shirodhara(Soothing Oil Stream Over Third Eye) : Warm herbal oil poured in a gentle stream onto the forehead to soothe and calm the nervous system and the mind. This sacred therapy promotes states of deep meditation and heightened perception. This technique synchronizes brain waves and profoundly coordinates and calms the mind, body and energy system. It is used traditionally for insomnia, memory loss, hormonal imbalance, headaches, mental tension and to soften facial lines. Its benefits are greatly enhanced after an ayurvedic massage, when the body is already relaxed and in a receptive state.
Swedhana(Herbal Steam Treatment) : Swedhana is received after an ayurvedic massage to further detoxify the body by pushing the toxins into the intestines and by helping the medicated oils to penetrate into the tissues by dilating body channels. This application of herbal heat reduces the body’s stiffness and heaviness, as well as, the slow, heavy and sticky quality of stagnant toxins. While steaming, ice packs and cool compresses are administered to avoid over-heating, allowing the vital organs to remain cool.
Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counseling(Consultation) : Learn how to align with the natural rhythm of your own nature. According to Ayurveda, you are unique and your needs are unique too.
